Commissioned for the garden patio of the Satre Echart residence, this site-specific architectural installation is meant to frame the eastern edge of the patio and function as an entry/exit point for visitors. The piece is shoe-horned into an existing space between an indigenous shale stone wall and a portion of the garden.
The materials (powder coated steel culvert pipe, hand-carved salt-fired brick, porcelain ceramic tile) were chosen for their durable, no maintenance surfaces. The concrete sub-structure and foundation have steel rebar reinforcing throughout. The siting and powder coating color choice was made during discussions and site-visits with the clients.
