The Granitewood Studio building was built in the early 1990’s and over the years, the interior working space had diminished with the addition of new work, tools, etc. A decision was made to build a storage building (the Annex) adjacent to the studio. Work began in the fall of 2017 with excavation and the pouring of the concrete slabs for both the building and the working area on the west side of the studio. In late spring of 2018 the Annex was built and clad in galvanized steel siding. The structure has electricity, a large garage door opening and air vents on the east and west sides. The interior space is outfitted with large shelves on the north and south walls for storage of light weight materials. Rolling steel carts hold smaller heavier boxes accessible from ground level. The addition of the Annex has opened up additional space of the studio for everyday working space and use during the annual Montana Clay Tour.
